COMPANY DESCRIPTION

We are a small, friendly, family run business with a large customer base. We pride ourselves on quality and price. We are an MOT testing station carrying out classes 1,2 and 4. We do servicing and repairs on all makes and models of vehicles and light commercial vehicles.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful applicant MUST be fully qualified with a minimum of 5 years experience and able to provide references.

We are looking for a professional who is passionate about cars and who can carry out their duties to an excellent standard with pride. Whilst relevant qualifications and training certificates will help in your application, your previous experience will be much more valuable. You will be working on all makes and models and be able to diagnose and repair vehicles to a high standard. The successful applicant must be able to work alone without supervision. The successful applicant MUST have recent experience and knowledge of newer vehicles.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Through the use of diagnostic equipment and a systematic approach, ensure vehicle faults are diagnosed and rectified. Discuss with customers to identify and clearly understand problems as and when required.
  • Carry out diagnosis, repairs and servicing to the highest standards and to the appropriate specification.
  • Complete relevant service documentation in line with manufacture, warranty and dealer requirements.
  • Accurately complete job cards and reports, including any written descriptions of faults found or repairs completed.
  • Replace / work on car engines, gearboxes and all other types of repairs

KEY SKILLS

  • Someone who can use their own initiative, who has good organisation skills and can stick to time scales are a must with this role, as the workshop gets busy.
  • You need to be someone who is clean and tidy (e.g. always puts tools away when finished) and always maintains a professional physical appearance to give off the right impression we want to give to our customers. (Company branded work uniform will be provided).
  • Whilst predominately working in the workshop, you will need to be someone who can interact with and show a friendly face to our customers if need be, as customers do sometimes come into the workshop from the reception area. You will also from time to time be required to talk to customers over the phone, so you will need good communication skills.

REQUIRED

  • Good and solid experience of working within a previous automotive mechanical role
  • (Desirable but not essential) NVQ, City and Guilds or other relevant qualification
  • (Desirable but not essential) Qualified to carry out MOT tests
  • Full UK Driving license
  • Good knowledge of car parts
  • Experience with Diagnostic equipment
