Housing Surveyor, Central Bedfordshire Area, up to £43,693k Salary
About the Role: Join a dynamic Repairs, Voids, and Maintenance team as a Housing Surveyor and play a key role in creating the best place to live in the Central Bedfordshire area. With over 5000 homes, you will be responsible for overseeing their maintenance and ensuring they meet high standards. Your role will include inspecting properties, prioritising repairs, and managing rectification projects to maintain and improve our housing stock.
Key Responsibilities:• Inspect council-owned dwellings to identify defects and project manage cost-effective rectification works.• Ensure the health, safety, and condition of properties through inspections and defect analysis.• Plan, prepare, procure, deliver, and manage revenue and capital works programmes from inception to completion.• Manage, administer, procure, and supervise contractors delivering inspection, risk assessment, renovation, servicing, and maintenance services.• Participate in emergency planning as required.• Diagnose repair defects and order effective remedial works.• Prepare strategies, reports, and feasibility studies on related subjects.• Provide desktop diagnosis of customer repair enquiries to reduce site inspections.• Collaborate with contractors, managing remedial works to void properties from start to completion.• Monitor revenue and capital budgets, attend contractor meetings, and support other teams with surveying tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
• HND or degree qualified in a relevant profession, or equivalent experience.• Experience managing capital and revenue works, ideally in a social housing environment.• Understanding of housing, procurement, project management, and budget management.• Ability to manage workloads and meet defined timescales on a range of projects.• Strong liaison skills with external contractors, including budget management, design, procurement, contract administration, and financial monitoring.• Experience conducting Stock Condition / HHSRS surveys, building pathology, and interacting with tenants and leaseholders.
