Job Title: Design Engineer
Design Engineer Salary: £35,000 - £38,000
Orion is currently working with an innovative manufacturing company based in Shefford. We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join their friendly team and work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be primarily involved in designing components for water management systems.
Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
- Design and detail water management systems
- Develop engineering proposals
- Create 2D & 3D designs using Solidworks & AutoCAD
- Manage project contracts from start to finish
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings
- Communicate with customers
- Create and manage BOMs
- Implement design modifications
- Design based on customer specifications
- Collaborate with sales/purchasing teams to generate tender documents
- Execute layout designs
- General mechanical design – sensor bracketry, equipment mounting, etc.
Design Engineer Required Experience:
- Proficient with design software such as CATIA, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and CREO
- Experienced with 3D CAD – AutoCAD Inventor and Volt
- Skilled in 2D design
- Background or degree in Mechanical Engineering (HNC level or equivalent)
- Experience with sheet metal, concrete, plastics, fabrication, and welding
- Familiarity with pumps, pressure vessels, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Understanding of automated production machinery
- Detail-oriented with a systematic work approach
- Strong team player and effective mentor
- Eagerness to develop skills and knowledge
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and on the shop floor
Design Engineer Package:
- Competitive salary of £35,000 - £38,000 DOE

- Monday – Thursday: 09:00 – 17:00
