Family Safeguarding Locum Consultant Social Worker

Mendip Somerset Council are looking for 3 experienced Consultant Social Workers to work across the Family Safeguarding Teams in Mendip.

We have embedded motivational interviewing to support families with identifying opportunities for change and working to achieve and sustain this alongside them, with the support of our multi-agency partners. You will be encouraged to attend CPD sessions, and supported to attend training. The team for the Mendip area is based in Shape Mendip in Shepton Mallet, and we offer flexible hybrid working, combining time spent with the teams in the office along with home working.

The role:

Within our Family Safeguarding Teams, you will be able to work alongside adult-focused practitioners, working within our teams, in the specialist areas of substance misuse, domestic abuse, and mental health, to inform assessments and plans. You will also work with children and families who are experiencing challenges around complex neglect, sexual harm, physical harm, risks outside of the home including child exploitation, and parental learning difficulties.

What were looking for:

1.You will need to be an experienced qualified social worker with a minimum of 3 years post qualification.

2.Experience working with children and families in Safeguarding Social Work and registered with Social Work England.

3.It is essential to have experience of managing court work / PLO and to have experience of adoption work and experience to qualify you to be able to write CPRs.

4.You will be flexible and innovative in your approach to practice and to leadership in social work. You will be a competent IT user, able to use or learn to use LiquidLogic.

5.You will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle as travel is required within Somerset.

6.It is important to note that will be requirement to work from the Shepton office at least 3 x days per week.
