NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - FULL TRAINING PROVIDED
If you have previous experience working at a Builders Merchants, then great. If not, don’t worry the company will provide full training and support. However, you will need excellent customer service skills, a helpful and friendly manner, be comfortable talking to customers face-to-face, be computer literate and have the ability to move stock around the depot, which includes loading and offloading deliveries.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Trade Counter Sales Assistant who has excellent customer service and communication skills.
Working as the Trade Counter Sales Assistant you will play a key part within the branch as a multi-skilled member of the team working with all departments to ensure customers receive exceptional customer service every time.
When working on the Trade Counter, the Trade Counter Sales Assistant will deliver the highest level of service and will be the friendly face of the business, helping to drive sales while dealing with customers to ensure their requirements are met and they are well supported.
You will also be required to check off goods and merchandise stock in the shop.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Trade Counter Sales Assistant include:
- Act as the first point of contact for customer enquiries, ensuring you acknowledge and approach customers as soon as is reasonably possible
- Ensure customers are served quickly and efficiently, taking priority over other duties
- Answer telephone calls in a timely and professional manner
- Maximise sales opportunities by building relationships with customers
- Ask open ended questions to identify customers pipelines of work
- Identify new/unknown customers and introduce them to the sales team
- Identify and communicate sales opportunities by having proactive conversations with customers. Ensure all leads are communicated to the sales team
- Support branch promotions & incentives by always upselling and merchandising stock
- Take the opportunity to upsell and link additional related products to existing customer purchases
- Provide accurate pricing information to customers
- Comply with all Health & Safety PPE requirements making sure safe working practices are followed
- Perform administration duties including perpetual inventory and stocktake preparation
- Accurately pick orders for delivery
- Receive goods and store safely in line with Health & Safety procedures, checking against supplier delivery notes
- Actively participate in stock control and merchandising so that stock levels are accurate
- Maintain up to date knowledge of products to ensure correct and consistent advice is given to customers
- Use machinery and mechanical handling equipment as necessary (full training will be provided)
- Carry out general housekeeping duties and maintain a professional, clean and tidy work environment
