Yard Assistant / LGV Driver who has an LGV Licence or has an interest in gaining your LGV Licence with great customer service skills and enjoys working outside is required for a busy Building Supplies Company based in Sherborne, Dorset, South West England

If you’ve worked in a builders merchants in a similar role as a materials handler or builders merchant depot operative or just enjoy working outside in a fairly physical role, lifting and moving building materials and have an LGV Driving Licence or have an interest in gaining your LGV Driving Licence, then this could be the job for you.

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Yard Assistant / LGV Driver who has an LGV Licence or has an interest in gaining your LGV Licence with great customer service skills and enjoys working outside.

Working as the Yard Assistant / LGV Driver you will primarily be working outside, assisting customers, picking products and loading them onto the lorries and van for deliveries.

As the Yard Assistant / LGV Driver you will also be required to unload supplier lorries and move product to their locations in the yard.

As part of this role, you will also be the branch’s relief LGV Driver, providing cover when the regular drivers are absent from the branch.

As a successful candidate you will be the friendly face of the business, offering customers great service whilst ensuring they are served and loaded, that their requirements are met and that they are well supported.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Yard Assistant / LGV Driver include:

• Act as the first point of contact for customer enquiries, providing advice and guidance

• Ensure customers are served quickly and efficiently

• Load and unload customer, supplier, and company vehicles

• Accurately pick orders for delivery

• Receive goods and store safely in line with Health & Safety procedures

• Actively participate in stock control and merchandising

• Support the branch as a relief LGV Driver when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Must enjoy working predominantly outside

• Have great customer service skills

• Have a friendly and helpful approach when dealing with customers

• Flexibility to work every other Saturday

• Have an LGV Driving Licence or willing to gain your LGV Driving Licence
