K.A.G. Recruitment are delighted to be working on an opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join our client one of Europe’s leading privately-owned food processors based in Yetminster.

Position: Payroll Officer

Location: Yetminster

Salary: £26,000 to £30,000 DOE

Reporting To: Finance Manager

Hours of work: Monday - Friday (37.5hrs) with flexibility on start/finish

The Role:

As the Payroll Officer you will be responsible for the compliant, efficient and accurate processing of weekly payroll. Responsible for all payroll administration and the adherence to and development of efficient and effective processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility and ownership of weekly payroll from creating piece rate sheets to processing payments, adding any statutory payments necessary, including maternity/paternity and sick pay. Incorporating additional pay, such as overtime, bonuses or increases. Answering staff queries relating to wages, tax, deductions, attendance, and time records. Applying weekly deductions for rent.
  • Processing payment documentation for new starters/leavers, including issuing P45s
  • Calculating Oversea Workers top-ups over a 4-week period ensuring pay meets UKVI minimum.
  • Complete payroll reports for record-keeping purposes or managerial review (overtime/cost by department/weekly wage journal)
  • Adhere to payroll policies & procedures and ensure all legislation/legal requirements are always met including NMW calculation check
  • Ensure all information requested by group personnel is correct and submitted in a timely manner
  • Ensure you keep up to date and communicate when required any changes in legislation and legal requirement
  • Ensure all submissions to HMRC are processed on time and comfortable with dealing with HMRC
  • Further training provided if required
  • Any adhoc payroll reporting

You will ideally have previous experience from a similar position and be used to processing weekly payroll in-house, experience in a standalone payroll position is also highly desirable.

You will ideally have full end to end payroll process experience and have knowledge of working with HR Databases and be competent in Excel.
