Academics Bristol are recruiting for SEND Learning Support Assistants who are compassionate, highly motivated and with prior experience working with children with severe or profound learning difficulties and complex needs, to work within a specialist SEN school in Hartcliffe - BS13

About the role

  • 90 - 120 per day, depending on experience
  • Start ASAP - Term time only
  • Ongoing, full time role with children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 (aged 4 - 7)
  • Supporting pupils who have severe learning difficulties and challenging behaviour - many of them also have additional disabilities - physical, visual, or hearing.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting student engagement and progress.
  • Support students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, while ensuring their dignity and safety.

The role of the SEND Learning Support Assistant at this school is physical in nature and requires emotional and physical resilience.

What we're looking for from you

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
  • Knowledge of communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or similar
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
