Estimator - Utilities
  • If you are an experienced Estimator, this is an exciting opportunity for you to join a successful, independent UIP (Utilities Infrastructure Provider - Gas and Water) who hold GIRS Registration. They are a friendly, forward thinking team.
  • As Estimator, your experience will be highly valued and you will be supported by your committed and professional colleagues. You'll find the management team empowering, approachable and eager to welcome you into the fold.
  • You will work in smart, modern offices (with free parking) most of the time, but you'll go on site visits too. You will be responsible for the assessment and interpretation of customers gas requirements and for the design of gas infrastructure including meter installations and pressure reduction equipment in line with current legislation, regulations and IGEM (Institute of Gas Engineering Management) specifications in order to secure adoption of the company's designs. Your other responsibilities will include:
  • Managing all aspects of the design lifecycle including producing Gas Designs and supporting information for approval by the Adopting Gas Transporters, utilising Gasworks 9 design software.
  • Submitting Completion Packs to Adopting Gas Transporters; correcting rejections.
  • Working closely with the Management and Operations team to meet customer expectations.
  • Providing technical support to operational staff as required.
  • Utilising National Grid Portal for on line transfer of information.
  • Providing support to Operations in relation to queries regarding approved designs and variations.
  • Liaising with customers to deal with queries and resolve design issues.
  • You will definitely have experience in this sort of role, either as a Designer or Estimator and you may already have a degree or similar qualification. If you don't, it doesn't matter, as long as you have the right experience.
  • You will be professional, committed and keen to push yourself in a new challenge, but you'll also be friendly, enjoy working in a small team and have a good sense of humour.
Your knowledge will ideally cover:
  • Qualified through IGEM to EngTech
  • NVQ Level 4 Gas Network Engineering Management Design Qualification or
  • City & Guilds 5831-80 qualification in Gas Network Design (training can be provided for this).
  • Experience of working in an UIP/GT/IGT industry
  • Knowledge of the gas designers duties under CDM
  • Gasworks 9 or Snap design software or similar and familiar with Gas industry standards; GIG 2 (Gas Industry Guidelines).
  • Knowledge of NP 14 and UIP (Utility Infrastructure Provider) documentation.
