The Role

Do you want to work for the UK's leading manufacturer of decorative surfaces and laminate worktops? Out client is currently searching for a UK Quality manager.

To improve product, process and systems quality; and to support the development of (BMS) Business Management Systems. You will be ‘responsible for' and ‘play an integral role' in driving business improvements (culturally) across all functions and sites including continuous improvement, monitoring, measuring and workplace management.

To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with various inspection techniques and be able to act as an auditor for their internal systems identifying issues and recommending solutions. Having a great attention to detail with the ability to ‘think outside of the box,' with these attributes in mind, you will help them build products that address and exceed customer' needs and expectations.

An experienced ‘hands on' manager with a strong background in manufacturing, process flow mapping, and improvement. Reporting to UK Systems & Compliance Manager you will assume responsibility for the UK Quality and technical entities and all aspects of Quality Assurance and Control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of Company Business Management System (including Quality, Environmental, Energy, Health & Safety)
  • Manage ISO and 3rd Party audits (i.e. Chain of Custody, Supplier and Customer audits)
  • Complaints management and fault resolution to a successful conclusion.
  • Management and Co-ordination of Product and Material Non-conformance system
  • Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Customer and Site Visits when required.
  • Reporting to management on Internal & External Quality performance.
  • Chain of Custody (FSC/PEFC) procedures and processes.
  • Management of internal and external inspections and testing (i.e., FIRA Gold Award).
  • Lead problem solving activities utilising industry standard methodologies: 8D's, 5 why's, 3C, DMAIC, Ishikawa fish bone diagrams, FMEA's
  • Develop and updating procedures in line with customer, ISO and local expectations.
  • Work with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving Product Quality
  • Working closely with all functions of the business to establish quality controls in all areas
  • Pinpointing relevant quality and business-related training needs / driving cultural change
  • Simplifying working practices and reducing non-value-added activities (waste)
  • Developing standards based on Customer, Supplier and Internal (their own) product specifications and requirements.
  • Acting as the key contact with customers' auditors and taking responsibility for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications
  • Monitoring performance through gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports working closely with credit control.
  • Support / aid RFT Quality through – NPI & Supply Chain involvement
  • Support Operational teams with site visits (as required)

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • 5 years quality management systems experience
  • Experience of ISO 9001 quality systems (or equivalent) and implementation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use a wide range of analytical, statistical and reliability tools.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills are necessary.
  • Experience of working in Manufacturing, Engineering environments..
  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation
  • Team spirit – Energy and positive can-do attitude
  • Organised, practical, logical in work approach (systems driven)

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of lean principles
  • In depth knowledge of regulated industry standards, such as ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001
  • Knowledge of Timber Chain of Custody (FSC / PEFC standards)
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis
  • Automotive TS standards and/or Quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, 8D)
