Duties of the role:
- Use Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEA) techniques to identify project technical risks.
- Prepare and present technical reports for project gate reviews.
- Contribute to planning design activities with the NPD manager.
- Adopt New Product Development (NPD) process and tools throughout projects.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the NPD process.
- Capture project technical risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Co-ordinate with quality department to define incoming inspection requirements to verify component quality.
- Provide technical support to the publications department in creation of product manuals, build books, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
About you:
You'll be an experienced design engineer with experience leading technical projects and working at a senior level or ready to take that step up. You'll hold a formal qualification to degree level or equivalent in a mechanical engineering discipline and use of CAD systems to generate models and drawings.
Technical skills requirements:
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles and standards.
- Knowledge of material properties and standards.
- Knowledge of machining methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of the high-speed or bespoke automated machinery.
- Knowledge of drawing and BoM configuration management packages.
- Technical knowledge of sensor technologies/solutions.
- Technical knowledge of electrical drive systems
- Technical knowledge of mechanical transmission systems
- Technical knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Technical knowledge of pneumatic systems.
- Technical knowledge of oil/grease lubrication systems.
