Responsible Individual for New Children’s Homes

We are excited to announce the opening of our new 2 bed children’s homes in Shipley, West Yorkshire, and are seeking a skilled and passionate Responsible Individual to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping our services and ensuring the highest standards of care.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as the Ofsted registered Responsible Individual for our designated Homes, ensuring compliance with legislation.
- Provide leadership, management, and direction to maintain high standards of care as outlined in The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
- Oversee legal responsibilities associated with the opening, registration, and operation of the Homes.
- Supervise and support Registered Managers (RMs), holding them accountable for their responsibilities.
- Ensure care standards are compliant with the homes’ Statement of Purpose and Function and Children’s Guide.
- Regularly visit the homes to establish relationships and knowledge of each child’s care and educational plans.
- Keep the homes compliant with all relevant legislation and regulations, staying updated with changes.
- Monitor practice within the homes through supervision of RMs, scrutiny of regulatory reports, and Ofsted inspections.
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate continuous improvement and development plans for each home.
- Attend children’s and staff meetings periodically.
- Maintain personal CPD and assess the effectiveness of staff training.
- Ensure staff are trained, skilled, and up-to-date with legislation and practice.
- Develop care, accommodation, and support provision through partnerships and agency collaboration.
- Manage resources effectively in the context of placement matching and stability.
- Prepare homes for regular Ofsted inspections.
- Oversee administration systems, ensuring accuracy and timely data provision by RMs.
- Assist in staff appointments and oversee induction, discipline, capability, and grievance procedures.
About You:
- Minimum Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
- Recent experience as a Children’s Home Responsible Individual or extensive experience as a Children’s Home Registered Manager.
- At least two years’ experience supervising and managing senior staff in a care role.
- Proven success in achieving Ofsted registration outcomes.
- Strong understanding of the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF) for children’s homes.
- Extensive knowledge of law, regulations, and practice relating to looked-after children.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to lead and inspire.
