Our client DENSO Marston a global manufacturer based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to be of the part of the Purchasing Department reporting to the Purchasing Manager.  This role will work within the Indirect Purchasing Team to help support our annual targets.   • Processing purchasing orders, obtaining second quotes where necessary, dealing with invoice queries and providing support to other departments with system queries.
  • Working with multiple departments and key suppliers to provide commercial support on Maintenance and Facilities contracts.
  • Working closely with the Buyers and Purchasing Manager to assist with monthly reports such as cost down/cost avoidance tracking.
  • Monitoring report on Supplier Performance, liaise with Quality Assurance on supplier status, produce monthly reporting on all the above as required by the Purchasing Manager. Also help support performance improvement activities with the supplier.
  • Develop and manage the Indirect supply base, supporting the Indirect Buyer with quarterly/annual supplier reviews.
  • Managing company car fleet, supporting managers with car requests and dealing with the leasing companies.
  • Providing support for business travel.
  • Supporting the Indirect Team with road and overseas transportation and customs clearances.
Required Skills
  • Commercial awareness (or business acumen). Has an understanding of cost structures and are comfortable negotiating to obtain best value.
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation and influencing skills with a motivation to challenge the status quo.
  • Comfortable and confident working in a team environment, and able to think on their feet.
  • Computer literate in the use of Microsoft office.
Experience / Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year Purchasing experience, preferably from a manufacturing background with a proven record within an Indirect commodity.
  • Would suit a recent graduate some industry experience.
  • Experience of Oracle MRP software would be advantageous.
  • Working towards, or would be willing, to achieve CIPS qualification.
