We are looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Shipley on a full-time basis, starting ASAP. This role is perfect for someone with experience in working with pupils who have SEMH, autism, ADHD, and other SEND needs.

Requirements:
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Previous experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or similar role in a school setting.
  • Proven experience working with pupils who have SEMH, autism, ADHD, and other SEND needs.
  • Familiarity with the primary curriculum and the ability to support learning across a range of subjects.
  • Ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm, supportive manner.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils across multiple subjects, including Maths, English, Science, Humanities, and Creative Arts, using a primary-based curriculum approach.
  • Work closely with teachers to adapt and deliver lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Provide pastoral care and emotional support, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help develop strategies to manage behaviour, fostering a calm and focused classroom atmosphere.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, using your sense of humour and empathetic nature to connect with those who have SEMH and neurodiverse needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to monitor and track student progress, ensuring tailored interventions where necessary.
