EYFS Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a lovely primary school in Shoreham. This role involves assisting in the educational and social development of pupils under the guidance of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, and SENCO. The ideal candidate will be proactive, sensitive to the needs of the pupils, and capable of working effectively within a close-knit team.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, and SENCO.
  • Implement individual programmes for pupils and help monitor their progress.
  • Provide support for individual pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully access the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary.
  • Support pupils with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
  • Assist class teachers with maintaining pupil records.
  • Undertake other duties as required by the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, and SENCO.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within a SEND environment.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative.
  • Commitment to professional development and learning.
  • Sensitivity and confidentiality in handling pupil information.
