Our client based in Shoreham-by-Sea is looking to recruit an Electrical / Mechanical Fitter to produce truck conversions in accordance with design requirements and engineering Instructions.

Hours:

Monday to Thursday 8.15am to 5pm (30 mins for lunch) and Friday 8.15am to 12.45pm.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Undertaking electrical and mechanical modifications of electric and diesel-powered equipment to meet specification.
  • To be proficient in electrical and/or mechanical fitting skills, including minor fabrication.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering instructions (drawings, wiring diagrams, photographs) to achieve project specification.
  • To select appropriate materials for on-job manufactured parts.
  • To complete project documentation as required during and at the end of the work.
  • Document (sketches, photographs or instructions) any aspects or components developed by the fitter during the project for future reference.
  • To participate in Continuous Improvement projects as required.
  • To operate within the guidelines of Company Procedures.
  • To ensure the workplace is kept clean and tidy by routine housekeeping.
  • To comply with the Company Policy on Health and Safety, and discipline etc.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Essential

  • Ability to read and understand engineering/technical drawings and processes.
  • Experience in electrical wiring.
  • Experience in mechanical fitting.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Ability to complete required documentation and records in a timely manner.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and flexible attitude.
  • Strong team ethic.
  • Willingness to adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures and processes.
  • Willingness to learn additional skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Own suitable tool kit required to complete duties.

Desirable

  • Apprenticeship, City & Guilds or equivalent
  • Experience of Zone 1 and Zone 2 conversions
  • Awareness of quality assurance throughout the whole process
  • Ability to problem solve
