Trainee Behaviour Mentors Required!

Are you a skilled behavioural specialist passionate about making a positive impact on young lives? Engage are looking for dedicated professionals with experience in supporting students with behavioural challenges to join our team. This role involves working closely with students in school settings, helping them develop positive behaviours and thrive in their educational environment.

About the Role:

  • Position: Behavioural Specialist
  • Location: Primary and secondary schools in the local area
  • Placement Types: Short-term, long-term, and potential permanent roles

Skills & Qualifications Needed:

  • Proven experience in working with children or young people with behavioural challenges (e.g., in a school, residential, or youth setting)
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students who require additional support
  • Knowledge of behavioural management strategies and the ability to apply them effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to create a consistent support network for students

Suitable Backgrounds Include:

  • Previous roles such as teaching assistant, youth worker, learning mentor, SEN support, or social work
  • Professional training or experience in mental health, special educational needs (SEN), or social care

Your Role

  • Supporting a range of vulnerable children ranging from Reception to KS4
  • Be able to appropriately calm children down and de-escalate
  • Be able to effectively behaviour manage
  • Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class and minimise disruption
  • Providing feedback to teachers and parents
  • Be available - Full time - 8.15am - 3.30pm

  • You will be expected to think on your feet and be proactive, no day is the same in a Special School, so being prepared is vital.
  • Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
