Job title: Experienced Vehicle Mechanic

Are you a skilled mechanic looking for a hands-on role with variety? Do you have experience working with plant, vehicles, and heavy equipment? We're looking for an Experienced Vehicle Mechanic. You'll be responsible for the safe and cost-effective repair and maintenance of our fleet, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. This role is based in our workshop, but you'll also attend site breakdowns as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle & Plant Maintenance - Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and servicing a range of plant, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Workshop & Site Repairs - Working both in the workshop and attending breakdowns on-site when required.
  • Fabrication & Welding - Carrying out welding, gas cutting, and fabrication as needed.
  • Health & Safety - Ensuring all work is carried out safely, following risk assessments, method statements, and company policies.
  • Stock & Equipment Management - Ensuring tools, equipment, and spare parts are maintained and used correctly.
  • Teamwork & Development - Assisting in the training of apprentices and working closely with the plant team.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with heavy plant, vehicles, tools, and equipment in a construction environment.
  • Strong mechanical skills - Competence in hydraulics, electrics, pneumatics, pumps, and small engines.
  • Welding & Fabrication - Basic welding, gas cutting, and fabrication experience.
  • Qualifications - NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant or Vehicle Mechanics (or equivalent).
  • Full UK Driving Licence - Essential for site visits and breakdown call-outs.
  • CSCS Card & Manual Handling Training - Preferred but not essential.
