Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Salary: 55,000- 64,000 + up to 13% bonus on top of Basic Salary

Work pattern: Days mon-friday

As Senior Electrical Project Engineer you will play a pivotal role in providing project-engineering support to all capital expenditure, process enhancement and plant improvement schemes in support of the Colors manufacturing and Shotton site development business plans.

The role covers all stages from the initial project concept to final implementation and operation as well as support to the maintenance teams as required. You'll lead and manage a team of project engineers, design draughtsmen and contractor employees engaged in site work specific to their projects, with the focus on safe working practices.

Principal accountabilities include but not limited to the following duties:

  • Undertake design, development, procurement, installation and commissioning responsibilities, as part of the project procedures.
  • Prepares detailed governance structure, project plans and progress reports.
  • Development of detailed electrical engineering requirements and specifications for plant /process improvements and enhancements with supporting risk assessments, management of change documentation, process safety considerations and hazard/operability considerations (HAZOP'S).
  • Prepares detailed project plans and progress reports.
  • Adherence to relevant sections of Engineering Standards, HSE guidance and Codes of Practice.
  • Provides engineering and technology support to plant engineers and Manufacturing Teams.
  • Maintains an up to date knowledge and awareness of engineering equipment developments and applications, specific to his/her job, and for the requirement of ongoing personal professional development.
  • Production of Project reports, so all control information (scope/time/financial/risks) of projects are transparent to all the stakeholders.
  • Compiling cost and resource forecast data.

You will have direct reporting responsibility to the Manager for Site Development Projects and will liaise with Project and Engineering functions

Education

For this role you must be educated to Degree or HND/HNC level as a minimum in an appropriate electrical engineering discipline, as well as experience as an electrical engineer.

Preferably you will have achieved Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or be actively working towards this through the appropriate engineering institutions, as part of professional development.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent Health, Safety and Environmental Management & Legislation knowledge alongside have excellent budget management skills. Being skilled at communication, problem solving, root cause identification, decision making and working effectively at all levels within an organisation are also necessary for this role.

The following skills and competencies would be desirable for this role:

  • A Prince '2' qualification (or similar project management qualification)
  • Experience in the planning and implementation of capital projects
  • A working knowledge of the application of the supply of Machinery Regulations
  • A working knowledge of the application of the Construction Design and Management regulations is desirable
  • An appreciation of the SAP budgetary control, capital accounts and capital scheme authorisation procedures is also necessary.
  • Relevant experience of the electrical technology associated with continuous strip coating lines for both metallic and painted products, as well as an appreciation of cold rolling and finishing operations.
