About the Role

Shropshire Council is seeking a dedicated Inclusion Support Officer to join our Virtual School and Access to Education team. This role is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting vulnerable learners, ensuring they receive the education and opportunities they deserve.

Working closely with schools, families, and other stakeholders, you will help improve educational outcomes by promoting inclusion, attendance, and achievement. You will also provide advice, attend meetings, and implement solution-focused approaches to overcome barriers affecting young people's education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support schools, families, and partners to champion the educational needs of children and young people.
  • Build productive relationships with education settings and stakeholders to promote good practices around inclusion, attendance, and admissions.
  • Provide casework support, applying policies and guidance related to admissions, inclusion, and special educational needs.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of training for school leaders and staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and track progress to support service objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with policies related to child protection, equality, health and safety, and data protection.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and participate in training and meetings as required.

  • Experience working with children and young people, ideally in an education or support capacity.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with schools, families, and external agencies.
