Seymour John are working in partnership with a leading accounting practice based in Shrewsbury, who are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant. This role offers the opportunity to work within a specialist team supporting local businesses in key sectors, including agriculture.

About the Client

Our client is a well-established, Shropshire-based business with a strong focus on providing personalised services to clients across the Agriculture sector. Their ethos is built on professionalism, dedication, and building lasting relationships with their local clients.

The Role

As an Accounts Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and completion of accounts and financial reports for clients, including entering data from prime records, carrying out reconciliations, and performing month-end and year-end procedures.
  • Processing and maintaining accurate financial records, including bookkeeping and VAT returns.
  • Acting as a point of contact for clients, managing correspondence, and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Providing advice on computerised accounts and bookkeeping systems and liaising with clients to understand their specific needs.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong, established background in accounting and bookkeeping (experience in the sector is a given).
  • A Level 4 AAT qualification.
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by businesses in this field, including agriculture (highly desirable).
