Seymour John are working in partnership with a leading accounting practice based in Shrewsbury, who are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant. This role offers the opportunity to work within a specialist team supporting local businesses in key sectors, including agriculture.

The Role
As an Accounts Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation and completion of accounts and financial reports for clients, including entering data from prime records, carrying out reconciliations, and performing month-end and year-end procedures.
- Processing and maintaining accurate financial records, including bookkeeping and VAT returns.
- Acting as a point of contact for clients, managing correspondence, and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
- Providing advice on computerised accounts and bookkeeping systems and liaising with clients to understand their specific needs.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong, established background in accounting and bookkeeping (experience in the sector is a given).
- A Level 4 AAT qualification.
- Strong organisational, prioritisation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks).
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- An understanding of the challenges faced by businesses in this field, including agriculture (highly desirable).
