This is your opportunity to manage your own portfolio of farming and agricultural clients within a reputable practice based in Shrewsbury, offering hybrid working from home and career progression along the way.

As a Bookkeeper, your responsibility is to ensure that clients are processing invoices, payments and receipts in order to prepare statutory accounts. You will also assist in completing their VAT returns as well as generate meaningful management accounts packs, aiding business decision making and initiatives.

This opening would be perfect for a bookkeeper that enjoys variety in their work, supporting several different clients and is pursuing a genuinely rewarding role where they can add-value.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform day to day bookkeeping for clients from various transactional streams
  • Assist in reconciliations, performing month-end and year-end procedures
  • Ensuring the VAT returns are correct and submitted on time in line with HMRC
  • Advising clients on complex bookkeeping matters and business initiatives
  • Assist in the preparation of management accounts such as cash-flows and forecasts

Requirements:

  • Previous bookkeeping experience gained within in accountancy practice or from within an accounts function in industry, farming or agricultural is advantageous
  • Previous practical knowledge of accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Xero or Sage
  • The capability to use your initiative, self-manage, multi-task, organise workload, work quickly and accurately to meet regular deadlines
