Construction Health and Safety Manager - Shrewsbury

Circa 500 per day (Outside IR35)

6 Month Duration, Potential for Extension

Are you a Health and Safety contractor based in the Shropshire area and ready for your next contract or interim role? Do you have extensive client-side construction experience and CDM knowledge? If so, this could be your next opportunity with a leading manufacturer currently seeking a Construction Health and Safety Manager.

You would be joining a leading company in the field. In this role, you'd oversee all client-side construction health and safety responsibilities across a key capital project.

The company actively promotes and supports innovations that enhance quality of life. You'd also be responsible for the management of all contractors and seeing through all projects to completion.

This is a fully on-site role, requiring 5 days of work per week, including weekends. Two of your workdays each week will consistently fall on the weekend.

The responsibilities of the Construction Health and Safety Manager will be:

  • Manage and oversee key new construction projects across the site through to completion
  • Monitor Key performance indicators across projects, identifying areas for improvement and providing solutions to ensure best practice
  • Provide support to project teams and managing contractors on compliance requirements, site visits, oversight of 3rd party contractor for health and safety delivery
  • Providing ad hoc support for safety audits, in line with audit plan and associated protocols, coaching others in audit good practice
  • Lead and deliver health and safety improvement activity by providing support to the health and safety Manager and wider dept. through delivery of agreed improvement activities.

The successful Construction Health and Safety Manager will have:

  • Experience within construction health and safety, heavy lifting and demolitions
  • Client-side construction experience, extensive CDM knowledge and managing contractors
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach
  • Ideally a NEBOSH, NVQ 5, or NCRQ diploma (or equivalent)
  • Membership of IOSH (Grad or Chartered)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation
