Your new companyWorking for an elderly nursing care home in Shrewsbury Church Stretton, you will be part of a great organisation that put people at the heart of everything they do. They have a real community feel within the home. The care is for service users with the following:

  • Epilepsy
  • Motor Neurone Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Stroke
  • Dementia
  • Adults aged under-65 with physical disabilities

Your new roleYour main job as a support worker will be to work within the Nursing Team assisting elderly residents with normal activities of daily living, promoting independence and maintaining an individual's dignity and respect. Therefore, as well as carrying out tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home, you should also encourage service users to have confidence and high self-esteem, but most importantly, for them to have fun. The shifts include domiciliary care, personal care, medication runs, getting the service users ready for the day or ready for bed and making them meals. The hours are flexible to work around you and include day and night shifts. Shift patterns are 8am-8pm day shifts and then 8pm-8am waking night shifts.What you'll need to succeedTo succeed in this role, you need to be trained in moving and handling, hoist training, safeguarding, assisting with medication and nutrition and hydration training. The role is ideally looking for someone who has level 2 in social care or adults or equivalent experience in a similar role. Experience working in a nursing home is required. You need to have a willingness to get involved and be a member of the team, with an enthusiastic manner and interest in taking part in activities. They are looking for someone passionate about supporting the elderly and wants to give them the best chances.
