Development Engineer – Powertrain

Shrewsbury / Hybrid working (minimum of 3 days on-site per week)

Initial 12 month contract – likely to be extended                        

37.5 hours a week – 8am–4:45pm Monday to Thursday & 8am-12:30pm Friday

Competitive PAYE and Umbrella rates available

An opportunity has arisen for a contract Development Engineer for programs relating to new and existing commercial and defence products.

The focus will be on the verification and validation needs of powertrain products for primarily the defence land systems segment. The successful incumbent will play a leading technical role in areas such as component resourcing validation, post design services reporting, inline 6 product development and much more.

What will you do?

  • Support to planning (resource profiling and costing of verification and validation) engineering programs.
  • Creating detailed test plans (DVP&R) to validate complex components / assemblies
  • Run rig / dyno tests on components / assemblies and produce technical reports covering findings.
  • Conduct complex data analysis on test results using hand calculations and / or relevant simulation software as needed.
  • Engage in stakeholder reviews, presenting to colleagues of all levels across engineering and other associated departments.

What skills and experience do you need?

  • An accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a development engineer role, ideally with engine, transmission, or driveline development experience.
  • Experience in product testing of either components or complete assemblies.
  • Extensive troubleshooting experience on complex products or systems.
  • Proven ability to deliver work to clearly defined plans within tight timescales.
  • A Willingness to travel to both customer and supplier locations as needed.
