Substance Misuse Recovery Worker

We are seeking a compassionate Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join a dedicated team in Shrewsbury. In this role, you will support individuals who are experiencing substance misuse issues, helping them on their journey towards recovery. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide tailored support, interventions, and advice to service users, enabling them to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Developing and implementing individual recovery plans in collaboration with service users, addressing their specific needs and goals.
• Managing a caseload of individuals, providing ongoing assessment, support, and review of progress.
• Delivering a range of evidence-based interventions including harm reduction strategies, psychosocial support, and structured treatment plans.
• Engaging with hard-to-reach individuals through outreach services, helping them to access support and treatment.
• Leading and facilitating group sessions on substance misuse, recovery, and wellbeing.
• Working closely with healthcare professionals, social workers, housing providers, and other local agencies to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive support for service users.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and interventions, providing reports and data as required by management.
• Identifying and managing risks associated with substance misuse, including safeguarding concerns, mental health issues, and physical health risks.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working within substance misuse, addiction, or mental health services is essential.
• Understanding of recovery-oriented practices and the ability to support individuals with complex needs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with service users, families, and professionals, both verbally and in writing.
• A compassionate approach to supporting individuals in challenging circumstances, with the ability to remain resilient in a demanding environment.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and build positive working relationships with external partners.
• Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
