Position Overview

We are seeking compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistants to work on a supply basis in schools across the Shrewsbury area. This role will involve supporting children with a range of learning needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, physical disabilities, and more. As a supply SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be flexible and adaptable, working in a variety of school environments to support the needs of both students and staff.


Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN.

Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Collaborate closely with teachers to support students in accessing the curriculum.

Support students with personal care and physical needs where required.

Promote inclusion and positive behaviour management in the classroom.

Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.

Help create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.


Ideal Candidate:

Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, either in a classroom or similar setting.

A passion for supporting children with diverse learning needs.

Effective communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, teachers, and parents.

Flexible, patient, and initiative-taking with a powerful desire to make a difference.

A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN-related qualifications) is desirable but not essential.

Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to undertake one).



As members of the REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation) and Umbrella body to the DBS, (Disclosure & Barring Service) Excell Supply is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children.
