Morson Talent are working on behalf of a major player within the Energy Sector who have a current (contract - renewable) requirement for an Operational Development Engineer (Periodic Testing). The successful candidate will join an established, site-based, Pre-Operations Surveillance team working together to create processes and strategies to advance site programmes of work associated with the construction of a Nuclear power station. Context

Pre-Operations is separated into the following programmes of work aligned to meet the current needs of the project:

o Asset Management - covering Equipment Reliability
o Work Management
o Surveillance Programmes
o EPR Plant Management and Maintenance
o Operate the Plant - covering operational procedures, technical specification development, safety from the system, training specification.
o Technical and Safety - covering the provision of Radiation Protection Adviser advice, compliance standards, preparations for radiography, emergency arrangements regulatory issues and Level 4 regulatory interface.
o Operational Capability - working with HR and Generation on resource planning, terms and conditions and organisational structure.

Broad scope

  • You will be responsible for supporting in the delivery of the Project operational documentation and strategy associated with the Periodic Testing Programme.
  • You will work with the team producing the periodic testing operations instructions (PTOI’s), as well as assist in the shaping and development of the processes required to deliver the Periodic Testing programme in the operational station.
  • This includes analysis of technical documentation from the designer, such as technical drawings, specifications, and testing instructions.
  • The role also will involve liaising with a broad range of stakeholders from across the wider organisation.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Conduct technical analysis of plant components and equipment.
  • Conduct analysis of technical documentation.
  • Assist in the development of the Surveillance Programme requirements for the operational station.
  • Conduct scheduling activities for the output of the Periodic Testing Surveillance programme.
  • Maintain interfaces and develop relationships (technical & functional) with other departments / Power Stations and other elements of the existing Nuclear Business.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
*** Please note - The following knowledge and experience could have been met in industries outside of the nuclear industry.

  • Minimum HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline (those holding an Engineering degree will have an advantage)
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Experience of document production
  • Experience of mechanical/electrical/C&I plant systems.
  • Be able to develop and follow procedures.
  • Able to develop work plans and deliver them safely and efficiently.
  • Have experience of working in a project environment.
  • Experience of dealing with a wide range of suppliers and customers (UK based and international).
  • Excellent communication skills.
