Role: Deputy Site Manager (mechanical / electro-mechanical background) - Hinkley Point 'C' nuclear power station project
Location: Hinkley 'C' site near Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UD)
Salary + Benefits: up to £85000 + overtime (equal to c20% on top of salary) + travel assistance / relocation assistance
Work Pattern: 10 days on / 4 days off
Start: February 2025 onwards
Our client, a well-renowned and highly-regarded international company specialising in the design and manufacture of large, high quality mechanical and electromechanical equipment, is looking for a Deputy Site Manager to assist in managing on-site activities primarily associated with the erection, commissioning, testing and maintenance of large polar cranes that will be used during the build and subsequent operation of the new Hinkley ‘C’ nuclear power station in Somerset.
The client is thus looking for an experienced Engineering professional (ideally Mechanical / Electro-Mechanical biased), with a proven background related to machinery (ideally large Mechanical and Electromechanical equipment) and on-site activities. Prior familiarity with / experience related to cranes would be of particular interest.
This role will be based on the Hinkley 'C' site near Bridgwater, Somerset (TA5 1UD), working on a 10 day on / 4 day off basis. The client will consider assisting with travel expenses (up to £1200/month), or relocation expenses for candidates looking to relocate.
Whilst initially being involved with / responsible for the erection, operation and maintenance of the cranes at HPC, this is intended as a long-term position, performing the same role on the future Sizewell ‘C’ project, as well as other UK projects.
Key Activities
- Manage on-site activities including erection, commissioning, testing and maintenance of polar cranes designed and manufactured by the company for operation at Hinkley 'C' power station
- Coordination of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safety, efficiency and quality.
- Contact and report every day with our client to show progress and address technical topics in meetings.
- Make sure project management instructions are followed, compliance with budget and proceed with a regular internal reporting covering all site issues.
- Supervise subcontractors.
- Maintain regular contact with technical support team located at the head office to receive support and provide updates.
Qualifications and Experience
- Significant experience related to machinery (ideally large Mechanical and Electromechanical equipment) and on-site activities.
- Mechanics / Electromechanics degree or other related engineering degree with good relevant experience, though non-degree-qualified individuals with a suitable level of experience / achievement will happily be considered.
- Ability to read technical drawings (mechanical / electrical).
- Strong customer service, interpersonal and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fast-thinking and know how to adapt quickly to any situation.
- Attention to safety, detail and quality
