Commissioning Consultant

Certain Advantage are working with a global Engineering and Technical services firm to hire a Commissioning Consultant with previous experience in environments with a strong focus on safety and quality to be based out of their Bristol office.

Our clients Nuclear Power Programmes unit supports the advancement of nuclear energy and aims to contribute to a sustainable, secure energy future. Operating across the UK and Europe, they are expanding their team for various nuclear projects at different development stages.

This is a full time Commissioning Consultant to support ongoing maintenance and application of the NNB commissioning safety case and the development of the operational safety case.

This role involves providing critical input, insight, and guidance on our production and management of safety cases, operational technical specifications, and reactor physics monitoring and compliance.

You will also interact with the commissioning programme to ensure the requirements of the extant safety case are met and support our preparations for operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable to the Pre-Operations Safety Case Lead.
  • Develop safety case and operational documentation for commissioning and future operational activities
  • Review strategy documents, providing insights and advice on their accuracy and achievability.
  • Contribute to cross-functional benchmarking
  • Support the development of nuclear safety-related training to ensure compliance with the nuclear site licence. This includes advising on the scope of emergency scheme roles and normal operations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience in commissioning, maintenance, and/or operations of complex systems.
  • Track record of project delivery in a technical role
  • Previous experience in environments with a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Ability to collaborate well and build effective networks in a diverse team environment.
  • Perform effectively under pressure and adapt to unexpected changes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
