Thorn Baker are working with a popular tier 1 contractor who are looking for a Section Engineer on a permanent basis in Bridgwater. This is an amazing opportunity to work on one of the top civil engineering projects in the country, for a leading contractor.

This project will involve the construction of three tunnels under the seabed to supply the reactors with an efficient water cooling system. This will consist of 9km of tunnels lined with 38,000 concrete segments.

This is shift work and currently looks like 7 days on 3 days off. A 41% rate uplift is available when on night shifts. Lodging and subsistence available for non-local candidates

What we are looking for:

  • Civil Engineering Degree
  • Tunnelling experience preferred
  • 3-5 Years site experience in Civil Engineering
  • Ability to manage a section site engineering team
  • Competent on CAD software and excel
  • SMSTS
  • Temporary Works Knowledge

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the Site Engineers are fully conversant with the construction methodology for the civil engineering works.
  • Managing the development of HSEQ controls for the civil engineering works.
  • Managing the detailed look-ahead programme for the civil engineering works.
  • Delegation of dimensional control to the Site engineers and ensuring that the Temporary and permanent Works are consistently and accurately set out.
  • Managing the calibration of survey equipment.
  • Safety management duties as delegated by line management
