Morson Talent are delighted to present an opportunity for a suitably qualified Work Management Engineer (Commissioning - Operations) to join our client’s established team for work associated with a major energy infrastructure Project in Somerset

Please note:
This is a 12-month (renewable) contract position – inside IR35.
Base Location: Site and Somerset Energy & Innovation Centre, Bridgwater

Job Purpose:

  • The Operational Control Centre (OCC) are currently looking for Work Management Engineers to cover several Work Management roles to Deliver Commissioning/Pre-operations (Comm-op’s) on Site.
  • The successful individuals will be required to assist in the development and implementation of Work Management processes and tools. Ensuring that the development and execution of work management procedures and arrangements are adequate to support each Project milestone.
  • You will have the opportunity to also provide technical oversight during the construction and commissioning phases to build-up knowledge of Nuclear and Conventional systems in preparation for taking on the technical responsibility for designated systems from the point of Commissioning and Handover to Pre-operations.
  • Your area of focus will depend on business need and (any)previous experience.
  • This is a contract role working closely with not just OCC and Commissioning but Pre-Operations under the Comm-op’s Structure.

Contextual Information (Nature & Scope)

  • Commissioning/Pre-Operations (Comm-op’s) are responsible for delivering the Systems to Generate Electricity and the Operational capability for the Project and ensuring that the future organisation, including people, working arrangements, equipment, facilities, and documents are ready for the generation of electricity.
  • You will be joining the OCC within Commissioning to aid the commissioning process with a view also to helping Pre-operations which includes Work Management, Supply Chain, Fuel Route, Outage & investment delivery, Equipment reliability and the Pre-service & Inservice inspection programme teams.


Principal Accountabilities (Work Specifier)

There will be changes in Structure as the project develops and with notification, area of working could go from OCC to WM group.

  • Work closely with the commissioning team to improve the efficient production of both teams’ processes and deliverables.
  • Specify Commissioning work order cards to suit the work within commissioning.
  • Resolve Open Points by liaising/discussing with Stakeholders.
  • As an active member of the OCC team, attend meetings as required for the role.
  • Support the development of the operational stations routine maintenance into the Enterprise Asset Management System.
  • Work closely with the Equipment Reliability team to understand and produce the routine maintenance requirements for systems on the operational station.
  • Be involved and provide input into the development of the Enterprise Asset Management tool.
  • Provide input into the development of standards, procedures and arrangements which support safe and reliable operation and maintenance activities
  • Support the development and delivery of Work Management, Planning processes and procedures.

Dimensions

  • The job holder will not have any direct reports and will not manage a budget. However, as the organisation matures opportunities could become available.
  • They will be part of a team of other engineering resources that could be asked to support or given the opportunity to work in other programme areas.


Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Science and/or Engineering background with relevant degree, HNC/HND or equivalent.
  • Experience in operating key asset management tools e.g. Asset Suite (Asset Management System), data reporting tools and Microsoft applications.
  • Experience of using / writing maintenance instructions in a regulated industrial environment.
  • Experience with performing / writing risk assessments and familiarity with the APSA (Authorised Persons Safety Assessment) process.
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Manuals and System Design Manuals including Engineering Drawings.
  • Organisational and IT skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with commissioning processes or experience with commissioning activities.
