Are you a Senior Planning Engineer looking for a new role? A leading multi-disciplinary design & build contractor is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Planning Engineer to join their team in Somerset, contributing to the Mechanical & Electrical installation works within the turbine hall of the prestigious HPC Nuclear New Build Mega Project.
This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work on a landmark project within the nuclear sector, demonstrating your expertise in project planning and scheduling, on a permanent staff basis.
Key Responsibilities: Senior Planning Engineer
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive project schedules across design, engineering, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Maintain and manage progress databases to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
- Prepare detailed Weekly and Monthly progress reports, highlighting key project metrics and performance indicators.
- Conduct milestone projections, critical path analysis, and delay assessments.
- Identify, document, and monitor project delays and disruptions, providing timely analysis and recommendations.
- Utilise Earned Value Management techniques to evaluate project performance and forecast future outcomes.
- Verify on-site progress and integrate quality assurance assessments into scheduling updates.
- Monitor schedule performance and productivity, preparing resource histograms as required.
- Lead and participate in planning and coordination meetings, fostering collaborative relationships with clients and subcontractors.
- Prepare tender schedules and support resource and cash flow planning.
- Provide accurate data to support payment applications and compile contract review reports.
- Ensure the quality, integrity, and accuracy of all schedules and reports, promptly identifying and addressing potential issues.
Key Requirements: Senior Planning Engineer
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in planning within the construction industry, ideally within large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a strategic approach to planning.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrated experience leading planning meetings and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
- A degree in a construction-related discipline is preferred.
- Proven negotiation skills and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- A collaborative team player with a commitment to achieving project success.
