Reed Secure are working with large public sector organisation who are looking to recruit Data Protection Officer
  • Location: Sidcup
  • Job Type: Full-time - temporary - 6 months with a potential being extended
  • Payrate: £19.19 - £25.48p/h

Join our client's organisation Data Protection Team (DPT) as a Data Protection Officer, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring organisational compliance with the Data Protection Act (2018) and the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulations (2018). This position is central to translating complex legislation into practical guidance, supporting the organisation's data-driven initiatives and maintaining high standards of data protection and compliance.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage compliance with the Data Protection Act (DPA 2018) and the United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (UK-GDPR).
  • Guide the completion of data protection documentation using the Data Capability Assurance Framework.
  • Support the creation and review of data protection documentation and toolkits.
  • Provide guidance on all aspects of law and legislation governing the use of personal data.
  • Assist in data protection training across the organisation to enhance data literacy.
  • Engage with various functions and directorates to ensure effective and compliant management and processing of personal data.
  • Build and maintain relationships across the organisation and with key partners to enhance the data protection advisory function.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and guidance from relevant bodies.
  • Assess and advise on data protection implications of project and business proposals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of delivering updates to colleagues and senior managers.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Analytical skills to assess complex information and make rational decisions.
  • Clear understanding of the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 and UK-GDPR 2018.
  • Knowledge of related legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Human Rights Act 1998.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in writing concise and accurate documents.
  • Negotiation skills to effectively manage project issues and ensure compliance with data protection legislation.
