Workman's Recruitment is partnering with a highly regarded and long-established Social Housing Contractor renowned for its exceptional service in offering building maintenance and construction services to housing associations, councils, and the education sector for over the last eighty years in London and surrounding counties.

You will be responsible for leading, managing, mentoring, and motivating the staff under their supervision. This role works alongside the SHEQ Director in developing and implementing company strategies that ensure the ongoing health, safety, environmental, and fire risk management standards within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, mentor, and motivate staff, ensuring performance targets are regularly set, monitored, and reviewed. Perform staff appraisals to identify and meet training and development needs.
  • Work closely with the SHEQ Director to develop and implement health, safety, environmental, quality control, and fire risk management policies. Ensure proactive and reactive monitoring strategies are in place.
  • Collaborate with the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) Manager to ensure efficient implementation of fire safety procedures in compliance with the Building Safety Act and relevant fire safety legislation.
  • Assist in maintaining third-party certifications and prepare for external assessments as required.
  • Maintain clear reporting lines with the SHEQ Director. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and statutory authorities, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Participate in the recruitment process, assist in candidate selection and interview, and help develop job descriptions and person specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ policies and legislation in both personal work and the teams activities. Promote awareness of environmental aspects and impacts related to the role.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the quality management system, ensuring compliance with standards and assisting in preparations for external assessments.
  • Investigate complaints, provide management reports, and ensure effective monitoring of issues in line with company policy.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full UK Drivers License
  • Minimum NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • Certified member of IOSH
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written)
  • Effective time management and delegation abilities
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6)
  • Chartered member of IOSH
  • Level 3 EAT qualification or equivalent
  • Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 systems
  • CISRS card holder (basic or advanced scaffold inspection)
  • First aid certification
