Job Title

OPERATIONS MANAGER- TIMBER -JOINERY PRODUCTS

Job Description

Our client is a leading independent Timber Importer & Distributor of Timber, and Timber Products and due to growth & expansion they are seeking an OPERATIONS MANAGER that will be responsible for all Operations of the site including Yard, Mill & Transport and ensure overall efficiency is adhered to at all times across all Departments

Reporting to: Director

As Operations Manager you will be working with the Mill and Transport Managers and be responsible for delivering excellent customer service by giving clear indication to the Operational Team and the Department Managers. You will be responsible for ensuring all activities are managed within health and safety requirements. You will also be expected to implement and develop operational process to ensure that the site runs efficiently and efficiently with a view to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities as Operations Manager

  • Effective and efficient organization and management of day to day tasks within the site
  • Manage and co-ordinate with the Operational Team good inwards, stock movement and returns.
  • Implement and develop initiatives to effectively reduce costs and maintain them.
  • Liaising with Group Purchasing about specific requirements for the Branch.
  • Investigations and analysis of vehicle accidents & incidents
  • Support the maintenance manager of H & S standards on site in conjunction with company policies and treatments.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in the transport or logistics field, with a competent working knowledge of London and Home counties.
  • Excellent administration & organizational skills
  • IT literate, and experience of Excel
  • Effective management and communication skills
  • Self motivated and focused with the ability to lead a team.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation
