Job Title: Cooking Teacher / Cook

Location: Sittingboure 

About Us: Our school is a specialist independent schools catering to students aged 11 to 19 who face significant barriers to learning or cannot access mainstream education. Many of our students are referred by Local Authorities and have an Educational Health and Care Plan. Some students are at risk of permanent exclusion from mainstream schools, while others have already been excluded.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging cooking and catering lessons tailored to the needs of students with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that encourages students to develop practical cooking skills and an understanding of nutrition.
  • Develop individualized learning plans to support students' culinary skills, social development, and confidence.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods as necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Organize and supervise extracurricular cooking activities and events.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations and ensure compliance during all cooking activities.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant teaching qualification or equivalent experience in cooking.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with significant barriers to learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
