Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

About the role:

To identify business development opportunities in the public and private sectors in line with Company strategy, to include work from existing and new customers and to lead and manage the day-to-day aspects of all live bids, from pre-qualification to mobilisation. This role works cross functionally to engage with all areas who will deliver future services.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess suitability of new bid opportunities through monitoring Local Authority and Waste Procurement websites and portals, including Proactis, Delta, and Tenders Direct, as well as following up on senior management-directed leads.
  • Prepare and deliver findings and bid recommendations to the leadership team for submission to the Board, ensuring key risks and opportunities are effectively communicated.
  • Lead on the preparation, presentation, and submission of proposed bidding strategies to the Board, including details of any proposed subcontractors.
  • Lead and own the cradle-to-grave bid management process, ensuring resources are coordinated to complete all bids within relevant timelines.
  • Read and understand all tender documents, such as specifications, financial models, and evaluation criteria, to ensure comprehensive and compliant submissions.
  • Draft method statements and prepare financial models, ensuring that all bids are competitive, commercially robust, and presented to a consistently high standard.
  • Maintain and build on the Company’s existing bid library, streamlining the tender submission process by agreeing on standardised responses to frequently asked questions.
  • Consistently monitor procurement/tender performance and analyse lessons learned to adapt processes for continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with relevant key stakeholders throughout the bid lifecycle, ensuring efficient and compliant mobilization of contracts following award.
  • Ensure that all bids submitted comply with relevant planning and environmental legislation and the Company’s Policies & Procedures, based on the principles of good industry practice

Essentials:

  • Excellent communication and project management skills, including high levels of organization.
  • Ability to establish, develop, and maintain good customer/key stakeholder partnerships.
  • Ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate.
  • Ability to successfully lead, manage, and control the bid process from start to finish with the use of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Previous experience and proven track record in the successful delivery of project tenders, to time, budget, and specification.
  • Experience in the preparation of project proposals (technical, financial, and legal) and documentation to a high standard.

Desirable:

  • Educated to degree level in an appropriate discipline.
