Alecto Recruitment is looking to hear from experienced Heavy Plant Mechanics for a Supervising Plant Fitter role based in the Kent area.

Position Summary:

The Plant Supervisor Fitter is responsible for ensuring that the Engineering team achieves and consistently maintains high standards of workmanship and competence. This role involves overseeing preventive maintenance checks and general maintenance tasks while fostering strong internal and external communication and relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Maintenance:

Oversee day-to-day maintenance of plant machinery to ensure maximum availability and productivity, following company procedures and legislative requirements.

Team Leadership:

Supervise the Plant Engineering team, ensuring that all team members meet their objectives and assisting with personal development plans.

Fault Diagnosis & Repairs:

Perform inspections, diagnose faults, dismantle, repair, and reassemble plant equipment and related components.

Preventative Maintenance:

Support operatives and employees in conducting preventative maintenance checks, services, and general repairs on plant machinery and components.

Emergency Repairs:

Respond to emergency callouts for repairs as necessary.

Planned Maintenance:

Participate in and support planned maintenance shutdowns to minimize operational downtime.

Auditing & Reporting:

Conduct random checks and audits on plant machinery and report daily plant availability to management.

Issue Resolution:

Address and prioritize major defects or concerns with equipment, reporting to management as needed.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with safe systems of work, using appropriate PPE and safety equipment at all times. Maintain compliance with the company's management systems and legal health and safety requirements.

Person Specification:

Strong communication skills

Computer literacy

Time and priority management

Problem-solving abilities

Practical leadership skills

Background in engineering

Experience in supervising a team

Desirable:

Experience in the waste industry

Familiarity with shredders, shovels, excavators, and conveyors

Essential:

NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Maintenance

Desirable:

Further qualifications related to mechanical or engineering fields
