Our client is a leading business who supply to a variety of the major retailers and within the fresh produce sector. As they continue to expand and grow their presence in the marketplace they are now seeking a driven and ambitious Packaging Development Manager.
Reporting into the Managing Director, this brand new role is an excellent opportunity for a Food or Fresh Produce professional looking for their role upwards to join a well-respected food service provider that supplies premium products to a number of retailers.
Responsibilities:
* Define packaging strategy to enable scalable and market leading innovation, foreseeing customer and consumer trend.
* Creating actionable plans for customers needs and delivery of these.
* Support the commercial delivery of changes to the UK packaging legislation, waste management infrastructure.
* Manage and build relationships with key packaging suppliers and waste management handlers.
* Lead the packaging development process from inception through to trial and launch, working alongside customer packaging and technical teams.
* Manage the packaging supplier approval process including due diligence to ensure all new and existing packaging meets relevant, food safety, ethical and environmental compliance requirements.
* Manage the packaging material specification approval process including due diligence to ensure all new and existing packaging meets relevant, food safety, ethical and environmental compliance requirements.
* Track, monitor and report on the impact of packaging development and innovation as it relates to production, packaging reduction, recyclability, cost, carbon emissions life cycle analysis and transport efficiencies.
* Review and identify existing process and or existing product packaging improvements to drive cost, environmental efficiency.
Qualifications/Skills
* A minimum of 5 years in a food packaging environment
* Experience of bringing packaging innovation from inception to launch
* Recent experience with major food retailers
* Sound report writing skills
* A proven knowledge of current regulatory compliance within food pac
