Our client, a leading industrial facility sector name, seeks an experienced Bid Manager to join their team. This role is for you if you thrive in fast-paced environments, have a keen eye for opportunity, and are passionate about delivering successful bids.

Position Summary

The Bid Manager will play a key role in identifying and securing business development opportunities within the public and private sectors. Working closely with senior management, you will lead the bid management process from start to finish, ensuring the company remains competitive and commercially robust. This role offers the chance to work cross-functionally, engaging with teams across the company to deliver high-quality, compliant bid submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opportunity Identification: Monitor Local Authority and Waste Procurement portals (e.g. Proactis, Delta, Tenders Direct) to identify and assess new bid opportunities.
  • Bid Strategy: Lead the development and presentation of bid strategies to senior management, ensuring risks and opportunities are clearly communicated.
  • Bid Management: Own the cradle-to-grave bid process, including pre-qualification, tender submission, and contract review, ensuring all documentation meets industry standards and evaluation criteria.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Liaise with various departments to coordinate bid efforts, ensuring all submissions are competitive and in line with company objectives.
  • Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure all bids comply with environmental legislation and company policies, while continuously improving the bid process by analysing past performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with key stakeholders and operational teams to ensure smooth contract mobilization following successful bid awards.

Skills & Experience

  • Essential:
    • Strong communication and project management skills.
    • Proven track record in bid preparation and proposal writing within the waste management and resource sector.
    • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage the bid process from start to finish.
    • IT literate with a strong command of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to influence, negotiate, and present information to stakeholders at all levels.
    • Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience with Local Authority contracts.
    • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
