Join a family-owned food manufacturer with over 140 years of history, based in Sittingbourne, Kent. We are excited to announce a new opportunity for an Assistant Technical Manager to join our Technical Team. This role offers a chance to work closely with our Production Team, supporting our ongoing efforts to excel in the food industry.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deputise for the Technical Manager, supporting their responsibilities and stepping in as required.
  • Provide support in the continuous improvement of food safety and quality systems, including all related documentation, food safety, and food defence to meet customer and third-party audit standards.
  • Assist in the implementation and improvement of Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, ensuring they are reviewed, updated, and implemented accordingly.
  • Conduct customer standards/code of practice Gap Analysis and identify gaps in internal standards within business operations.
  • Update internal procedures and policies to ensure compliance with customer standards and current food legislation.
  • Support compliance with BRCGS Food Safety and conduct risk assessments.
  • Check and approve artwork and undertake project work as directed by the Technical Manager.
  • Plan and carry out process audits to verify output from accountabilities.
  • Contribute to customer and third-party audits, ensuring compliance with quality management procedures related to food safety and food safety culture.
  • Conduct system internal audits and close out non-conformances.
  • Deputise for the Technical Manager during absences, including leading incident/crisis management if required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Degree in a food-related subject.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within the food industry, ideally in manufacturing.
  • Previous experience managing BRCGS and multiple retailer standards.
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate.
