Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Justice Officer to join the Youth Justice Team. In this role, you will work directly with young individuals who are involved in the justice system, helping them to navigate their challenges and make positive changes in their lives.

This role is hybrid position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the needs of young people referred to the service and develop comprehensive action plans.
  • An awareness of childcare legislation, e.g., the Children Act 1989 and Children Act 2004.
  • An understanding of Youth Justice / Criminal Justice legislation.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, and other agencies to support young people.
  • Monitor and review the progress of young people against agreed plans.
  • Provide one-to-one support and interventions tailored to the needs of the individual.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to the safeguarding of children.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as required by the service.
  • Assist in the delivery of restorative justice practices.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those at risk or involved with the justice system.
  • A degree in Social Work, Youth Justice, or a related field.
  • Understanding of the youth justice system and relevant legislation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Experience in delivering restorative justice practices.
  • Previously worked in a Local Authority
  • Hold a full UK driving license plus access to a vehicle
