Join our dedicated team as a SENCO Assistant at our dynamic Pupil Referral Unit. This role is crucial in supporting the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of students requiring tailored educational support.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist the SENCO in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure that the specific needs of students are met.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students under the SEN framework and report findings to the SENCO.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of documentation and reports related to SEN students.
  • Support the SENCO in organising and managing resources necessary for the effective teaching of SEN students.
  • Participate in training and development sessions to enhance personal skills and understanding of SEN provisions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must be a qualified teacher
  • Experience in a support role within an educational setting, preferably within a Pupil Referral Unit or similar environment.
  • Understanding of the needs of students with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
