SEN Tutor

We are seeking a passionate SEN Tutor to join our small specialist secondary independent school, dedicated to students aged 11 to 19 years who face significant barriers to learning or cannot access mainstream education. This role is ideal for a dynamic and proactive individual with a strong understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and who possesses robust behaviour management skills. Experience with children who display challenging behaviour is highly advantageous.

Day to day of the role:

  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons to small groups of students.
  • Utilise our online school database to access and plan lessons.
  • Provide a stimulating, well-structured learning environment.
  • Work closely with a Teaching Assistant to support student learning.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to encourage academic growth.
  • Implement strategies to manage classroom behaviour effectively.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of SEMH and experience in managing challenging behaviour.
  • Proven experience as a Tutor or Teacher, preferably within a specialist education setting.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
