Job Description

Alecto Recruitment are seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to join a recycling company. In this role, you will ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of plant equipment, consistently meeting high standards of safety and quality. You will work as part of a dedicated team to carry out repairs, inspections, and planned maintenance, while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, diagnose faults, and perform necessary repairs on plant equipment, including testing, dismantling, overhauling, and re-assembling components.
  • Support preventative maintenance checks, services, and general repairs of plant equipment.
  • Respond to emergency call-out repairs as needed.
  • Participate in planned maintenance shutdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with safe working practices, always utilizing appropriate PPE and safety equipment.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork in compliance with company policies.
  • Report major defects and prioritize corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Conduct random checks and audits on plant machinery under your remit.

About You

We are looking for candidates with:

Essential Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent qualification.
  • Solid engineering background with experience in plant equipment maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Welding and Fabrication
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and problem-solve under pressure.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the waste industry.
  • Familiarity with plant equipment such as shredders, shovels, excavators, and conveyors.
