The Opportunity
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Project/Programme Lead to manage and support the delivery of the Temporary Construction Area sub-programme. You will be responsible for leading a team of Senior Project Managers and Managers across multiple disciplines, including Earthworks, Enabling Works, Civils, Networks, and Buildings.

The role
Your role will include managing a matrix team, coordinating with suppliers, and working closely with the Site Delivery Lead to ensure all elements are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. As the Site Delivery Lead, you will work collaboratively to define work scopes, secure necessary resources, and ensure effective execution of strategies and plans.

Your duties and responsibilities will be 

  • Defining and Delivering Scope: Work with the project teams to define and deliver key work packages, ensuring effective interfaces with other programme elements.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a cross-functional team to execute the project plan, ensuring safety, quality, and technical requirements are met.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track milestones, deadlines, and budgets, providing regular progress reports to the Site Delivery Leadership team.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage risks, facilitate issue resolution, and propose updates to the programme or budget as needed.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders and ensure alignment with programme goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote the principles of Continuous Improvement and capture lessons-learned for future projects.

You will be integral to ensuring the smooth operation of engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities within the project schedule.

You Will Have the Following Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven track record of delivering projects in technically complex environments, ideally in the nuclear energy sector or other regulated industries.
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and management.
  • Strong project management, financial management, and change management skills.
  • Proficient in using project estimation, scheduling, programming, and risk management tools.
  • Experience managing contractors, consultants, and advisors on large-scale construction projects within a regulated environment, including familiarity with NEC and FIDIC contracts.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong numerical and analytical capabilities.
  • Degree in engineering, construction, or a related field, with chartered status.
  • A good understanding of CDM Regulations and project management methodologies like APM or Prince2.
  • Experience managing projects through all stages of the lifecycle, from concept to handover.
