We are seeking a dedicated and patient Key Stage 4 Tutor to join our team. This role involves providing personalised educational support to students with specific learning needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in preparing our students for post-16 settings and adulthood.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored tutoring sessions to Key Stage 4 students, focusing on their individual learning needs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student's understanding and engagement.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Prepare students for post-16 education and adult life, addressing their academic and social skills.

Candidate Profile:

Our ideal candidate will be empathetic, patient, and experienced in working with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, as well as communication, interaction, cognition, and learning difficulties.

Specific Requirements:

  • Experience with ADHD and ASD: Understanding the unique needs of students diagnosed with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Communication Skills: Ability to support students who have difficulty with verbal communication, often speaking quickly, particularly when upset. Skilled in giving clear, unambiguous instructions and interpreting non-verbal cues.
  • Attention Span Management: Techniques to maintain the focus of students with short attention spans, ensuring engagement throughout the sessions.
  • Handling Challenging Topics: Sensitivity and skill in navigating conversations on challenging topics, providing a safe and supportive environment for the students.
  • Humor Interpretation: Awareness of the students' difficulties in interpreting humour, adapting communication to be clear and straightforward.
  • Fidgetiness Management: Strategies to accommodate and manage fidgetiness, creating a comfortable learning space.
  • Holistic Support: Commitment to supporting students in developing their social, emotional, and mental health, as well as their academic abilities.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant teaching or tutoring qualifications.
  • Experience in special education or working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for making a positive impact on students' lives.
