gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Toolmaker to work at their facility based near Skelmersdale

Performance Objectives

  • Switching tools in and out of Injection Moulding machines
  • General operation of machine
  • Maintenance of Injection moulding machine
  • General maintenance work including cleaning and polishing tools
  • Maintain, repair, modify and improve production related to Injection moulding, maintain and improve efficiency, reliability and quality
  • Investigate and resolve tool and machine related problems
  • Compile maintenance records for each tool to provide detailed history of work carried out
  • Identify root causes of technical related problems to provide effective countermeasures
  • Justify and recommend changes to components, tooling or associated equipment
  • A knowledge of mechanical Engineering and a varied back ground in Factory / Manufacturing environments

Person Specification

  • Exposure to and understanding of Injection moulding within the Plastics industry.
  • Knowledge of Injection moulding
  • Knowledge of tool design and understanding of tool drawings
  • Capable of working to high tolerances, within a precision engineering environment
  • Understanding of key process techniques (Injection Moulding)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with external toolmakers on repairs and new tooling.
  • IT proficient
  • Able to use both hand and power tools, centre lathe, milling machines and surface grinder.
  • A willingness to progress and eventually lead a team.
