gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Toolroom Technician to work at their facility based near Skelmersdale

Performance Objectives

  • To aid in maximising the tool room by ensuring the quality on the ongoing tool making and tool maintenance business.
  • Be able to produce machined parts to a high accuracy on all standard manual Toolroom machinery i.e., Milling machines, Lathes, surface and cutter grinders to tight schedules.
  • Be skilled to work to a high accuracy with small hand tools and air grinders
  • React to break downs and quality issues using tooling skills to remedy tooling concerns
  • Complete total preventative maintenance as per schedule to maintain press tools.
  • Carrying out modifications to existing tools.
  • Be able to work to all engineering drawings.
  • Be capable of repairing and maintaining existing tooling working to deadlines
  • Carry out all functions necessary to ensure that all work is carried out correctly and efficiently to final completion.
  • Have some knowledge and experience of Production Engineering issues.
  • Complete all tasks in a safe and productive manner, to ensure the up most health and safety of not only yourself but your colleagues as well.
  • Maintain high levels of housekeeping at all times.
  • Any other duties as and when required.

Person Specification

  • Engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Time served apprenticeship with certification.
  • A good knowledge of injection moulding tools and how they work.
  • Ability to read tool and CAD drawings.
  • Experience with lathes, milling, grinding and hand tools.
  • Self-motivated and focused, with a flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure on own initiative.
  • Strong attention span with a good eye for detail.
  • Able to follow formal procedures.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good literacy & numeracy skills.
  • Hydraulic skill base.
  • Electrical skill base.
